Castleton is a village in the Peak District National Park. It attracts many visitors. Unlike most attractions there is no integrated plan for the PDNP to manage access and provide the facilities necessary to allow a pleasant experience. The result can be chaos which affects visitors and locals alike. There are four major authorities with skin in the game – Derbyshire County Council, High Peak Borough Council, the Peak District National Park and the National Trust. This website is about providing hard evidence of the problems to get a better deal for all. Visitors and residents need to co-exist.

We are now in the quietest part of the year although Crhistmas will bring more activity. We are seing a reuction in reporting. Please keep doing it as our data is now picked up directly by the PDNP as part of their data gathering.
We hope that the Peak District Partnership can deliver workable solutions that enable visitors to enjoy the area and manage the impact they bring.

We need to focus on a related problem which is that the High Peak Council does not recognise that there is a problem because we clear up the rubbish. It is vital that we record what we do and report it to them. So we are appealing to all of you to let us know
