Concerned for Castleton

in the Hope Valley, Peak District

These are some of the recent Reports. For all Reports see below.

Castleton is a village in the Peak District National Park.  It attracts many visitors. Unlike most attractions there is no integrated plan for the PDNP to manage access and provide the facilities necessary to allow a pleasant experience.  The result can be chaos which affects visitors and locals alike.  There are four major authorities with skin in the game – Derbyshire County Council, High Peak Borough Council, the Peak District National Park and the National Trust.  This website is about providing hard evidence of the problems to get a better deal for all.  Visitors and residents need to co-exist.

Hi

It is some time since you have heard from us.  Can we remind you that spring is here and summer is just round the corner bringing an increase in parking, litter and other issues. We have already received evidence of shocking human soiling, and littering during last weekend.

Since we started this group we have had success because we provide real evidence of the problems to the authorities provided by you. We are delighted that the PDNP actually requested to receive and now uses our data on a monthly basis.

This is only possible if you report the issues that you see all of the time!

Some need reporting by you directly to the relevant authority as well such as fires and other illegal acts, but please report them to us too along with any other issue that you find.

Our strength and influence depend on having the evidence.

Without this evidence the problems will not be taken seriously and nothing will change.

It’s so easy to report on our reporting page, please click on the links below to have a quick look.

You can report just below.

By working together we can make a bigger difference.

Thank you.

Just press and you will be taken to a Form where you can enter your Issue. We ask for your email address so that we can send you a copy for your own use and to contact you if we have a question. It will not be used for any other purpose. It will not appear on the published Report that is public. If you wish you can leave it blank.
This data will be used to compile our Reporting to the Authorities. We have also created a Section on the Form where you can add your thoughts and ideas about how other Authorities have successfully dealt with similar issues.

Litter Picking

Hello to everyone who litter picks in and around Castleton.  We need to focus on a related problem which is that the High Peak Council does not recognise that there is a problem because we clear up the rubbish.   It is vital that we record what we do and report it to them.  So we are appealing to all of you to let us know

  • Where and when
  • How many bags
  • An estimate of how many poo bags and cans/bottles

All you need to do is click on the link below and enter this information.

There will be times when you see something and think “that’s a good idea, how can I share it?” Just pass it on to us and we will post it on our website and pass it on to the Authorities who may be interested. You can see all the ideas HERE

You can email us or complete a FORM
